Humble Beginnings

As I am writing this, its the first week of the Arena season 8. Before we dive deeper into my experiences as a retribution paladin in the arenas I would like to explain that this is written by an arena beginner to a beginner audience. I will try and post my progress and rating as I go along in each of the brackets. Me and my 2v2 partner, a resto druid whom I will always refer to as the T-Bag (names have been changed to protect the helpless noobies), began our arena ascension 7 weeks ago; 4 weeks prior to the end of season7.

Our endeavour, at least on my part, began as a result of feeling burnt out from leading Ulduar, TOC, and ICC raids as well as dealing with guild drama as an officer in my guild. So the T-Bag, another officer in my guild, began gladiating in the 2v2 brackets. I honestly did not believe a resto druid and a retribution paladin would make it very far, but as luck and a minute amount of skill would have it we made it to a rating of 1350 within 4 weeks. This is nothing to brag about but for complete arena beginners this is a modest start.

Retribution Paladins in an arena have historically carried with them a negative connotation. A lot of people argue that because of our mechanics or lack there of, we are not very well equipped for the strains of arena combat. Certainly if you peruse around the WoWArmory site and/or ArenaJunkies.com you will find that this perception certainly seems to fit the profile. However some few retribution paladins have made it to the top brackets. Is it their skill? or an insanely skilled partner that carried them to that arena bracket.... I intend on shedding light on this topic in hopes of seeing more and more retribution paladins representing our ranks in the upper echelons of the Arenas.

Remember before anyone comments in future posts about what a noob I am, please read this disclaimer:
